Re: New places visited this season.....

Threepointfix was Neil Magna Carter's project to keep himself busy while he was in between jobs. I don't think he had time for it after he found new employment although I seem to remember him trying to get someone else to take it on.

Re: Sealing windows into frames

Time for an update. I discovered that the rubber was much more flexible than I had imagined and that stretching it sufficiently meant there were no wrinkles. We cut the rubber to length and super-glued the ends together to make a continuous loop before filling the bottom of the channel with gloop an...

Re: Echo sounder interference

Thanks for that gentlemen - some good ideas to try. Not such a wacky idea Bob. Although I wouldn't want to stop the engine, I used to be able to get a reading with the previous engine, before the problem was solved, by knocking it back to tickover briefly. The manual clearly says that damage may be ...

Echo sounder interference

The new engine is wonderful except that the depthometer produces random readings when it is running. Those of you with long memories may remember that I had the same problem with the venerable Yamaha which was improved by fitting a couple of ferrite rings to the charging wires between the engine and...

Re: Ceilidh Cruise?

I'm working on Sunday so I'd thought I might still possibly catch you that evening in, say, the Creagan.

However, I've then got a glorious fortnight afloat. :D

Re: She swims

Finally launched this afternoon despite a minor hitch when the battery master switch (permitting only 2 volts to pass) had to be replaced at the last minute - and yes I should have checked the electrics earlier. Spent an hour tootling around the loch starting the 10 hour break in (sic) procedure for...

Re: Free two-stroke premix

Silkie has gone all four-stroke and I want to use the right stuff in my shiny new motor, at least initially. I could use up the old fuel by adding the odd pint from time to time after running-in but it just seemed easier to give it away.

How wrong can you be? :)

Re: Free two-stroke premix

Silkie's outboard is her main engine and the venerable Yamaha was a thirsty beast.

You don't have to take it all. :)

Free two-stroke premix

About 15 litres petrol premixed with semi-synthetic two stroke oil at 100:1 plus about 400ml of said oil free to a good home or homes.

Collect from MRC Barcaldine by Monday lunchtime or can deliver Monday afternoon between Oban and Edinburgh.
