Didn't get any offers on That Other Forum huh?

I'm in Penicuik and planning to go up on Monday (possibly Sunday evening if I can get away with it) and return on Wednesday. I'm assured that the leccy is restored now (after the January storm surge) so at least I won't freeze to death. What you got in mind?

Sound advice (groan)

Thanks for that. I have made a note on my chart to remind me to turn before hitting any rocks. I will savour it. It's one of the joys of sailing that there seems to be an almost endless supply of new and challenging experiences. Obviously so for a greenie like myself, but I really think I'll ...

Situations Vacant

I could offer you a weekend scrubbing, anti-fouling, varnishing and bedding deck fittings - is this the sort of thing you had in mind? I can't even offer that, goddammit, since I'm collecting Mrs Silkie from Edinburgh Airport at 1810 on her return from a week's jolly in Sevilla with a couple of her ...

Cuan Sound

I've never been through here but it's a definite maybe for this season. I've got the Lawrence and CCC pilots but am still slightly trepidatious and would appreciate the reassurance of someone with local knowledge (should there be such a one on here!). Presumably the best time to go W-E is at the end...

Hotmail etc

Sorry, don't know why Nickb@webcraft.co.uk was junked while Nick@webcraft.co.uk was fine. However, after unjunking "Your New Weblog - Verification" and clicking on the link, I received three copies of "Your New Weblog" which seemed a bit excessive. Possibly your mail machine re-trying after receivin...

Re: High & dry

Chartering is out, so I'll follow your exploits here until we're back afloat. Well I'm always looking for crew Donald, so if withdrawal symptoms get so bad that you're prepared to put to sea in a 22 footer, you know where to find me. I hope to be back in the water in the first week in April.

It's still the here below Fairwinds is an Albin Vega, a 31 year old 27ft sailing yacht based in Balvicar, near Oban. This is the log of her circumnavigation of Ireland in the Summer of 2004, crewed by Nick & Kathy Bowles. You can use the text links below to navigate the site or click the hotspot...

Fairwinds Circumnavigation of Ireland

Nick. I've read this before but must have navigated from the main menu. Started to re-read it tonight and have found an "undocumented feature". If you start from here from the main page, you can only get as far as the Glenarm-Bangor page where the Bangor-Ardglass link returns you to Glenarm-Bangor a...

That's me to a T, although the voyages generally only attain epic status in the bar afterwards.
