Re: Some pictures from Orkney
We're going to have to bite the bullet and sail up one year. We did our day skipper at Oban when we started, and keep on saying we'd come back. There are so many places we know through diving, but have never sailed. It's so much easier than down here, with the smaller tides, and so much shelter from...

There is a wharf at Lyness. I can't say that you could definitely tie up there, but as I understand it, many of the dive boats tie up for an hour between dives, so maybe you can. You can see it, though not very well, behind the guy's head in this picture. http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e123/martc...

Nice pix. Is that you diving in short sleeves?
Nope, that was a friend, and, according to him, after 40 years of diving, that was his last.
He and his wife dived the whole week in wetsuits. Braver than I.

Some pictures from Orkney
Spent a wonderful week diving in Scapa flow in the Orkneys last week. Not strictly sailing, but some sailing links, and all pretty much boaty. Pretty ambitious to sail to St Kilda from Tobermory in a bucket. Commendable, though.

I love that place.
Nah, that's not enough.
I really love that place.
Cheers.

Re: Dim Question
I really must sing the praises of the recently invented magnetic mooring. Whopping great magnet on the seabed attracted to the antiquated lump of iron known as an engine. Many advantages, easy to moor as no pickup is necessary, no chafe, no maintenance, easy to find as compass will always point tow...

Surface pressure off Lewis seems to be forecast to be about 960. Best of luck lads and lasses.

A visit from Katia?
I've been watching the NOAA site for the last few weeks, for some reason I've become interested in hurricanes. I watched Irene and now I'm watching Katia. I've never seen this before, but then it may be that I've just never looked, but it seems that Katia is headed our way, and, indeed, will still b...

To be honest, it's a long way to go. Can you let us know if there's anything on there worth reading? If so, I'll book the ferry. Cheers.

Re: Server down
Hmm, webfusion, yes.
On a more positive note, last time I was in Stornoway, I was glad to escape it too, so good luck with that. Got to the Callanish stones (er, staenes????) IIRC. Then some whaling station NW Harris.
