Moody Self Isolating?

"High Spirits of Lorn", a Moody, is continuing to meander around the Clyde. Arrochar, Lochgoilhead have been visited at the weekend; last night was Millport and now she is rounding Garroch Heads heading west. My best charitable thought is that she is a solo live-aboard evicted by some mari...

Re: Hazards approaching Dunstaffnage

Serves you bloody right! How dare you be out on the water while the rest of us are locked down. At least we can watch your mooring on the SAMS webcam and clype on you the moment you step on board. Keep safe!

Re: How to get launched?

6 days since Geoff started this thread when closing yards seemed a bit OTT. I asked Neil to service my mooring - no replacements needed - slapped on the AF, polished the hull and on Sunday covered her with a tarpaulin and gave up. It seemed obvious that there were just too many eejits, whether too t...

Re: How to get launched?

Mothballing the boat seems to have been the right thing to do. I hope your boats are within walking or cycling distance.

Hold your own, every bottle will last twice as long by yourself, or you'll be twice as fou in the same time.

Re: How to get launched?

I'm in a quandary - a moral yin not the Ardrishaig yin. My boat is about 70 miles from home in a yard which, at the moment, is still launching. My wife and I are both in our 70s, self-isolating 'cos that's mostly our normal behaviour and we are maintaining social-distancing stringently. I can leap i...

Re: Bridge over the North Channel?

I am amused by the MoK option - the bridge would be the least of their problems. Getting a road connection suitable for artics complete with opening bridge over the canal might cost a few bob. Would make Croabh and Ardfern quicker to get to, though.

Re: Bridge over the North Channel?

I think it is a particularly stupid idea. I just want to see the almighty cock-up develop.

Bridge over the North Channel?

I do hope I live long enough to see this bright Boris idea come to fruition. The UK government's track record on things like Crossrail and HS2 is a litany of overspend, mismanagement and ridicule. At least Holyrood got the Queensferry Crossing up without too much overspend, schedule slip or corrupti...

Re: Rigging?

Round Mull Race, Vela and Storm Mhor both lost their masts but on different years. Dinnae ken why.
Year before last, wooden boat with wooden mast on Ashton mooring - forestay clevis pin at hounds.
