Re: Connel Bridge reduced clearance
It seems September was optimistic but there are signs today that work is about to start. I wonder if the finish date will be put back 2 months too.

Forum time quirk?
When I'm logged in, the forum time is GMT which is awkward but I can cope. But if not logged in, the forum time is BST. I don't know what happens to it in winter.

AIS surprise
Having been scarily enveloped in fog twice in the last two years, both times in the Firth of Lorn outside Oban's north entrance, I fitted AIS last winter to improve information for the next occurrence. (Nothing similar has happened this year so it has worked!) But last weekend, when passing Lochalin...

We went to Tobermory instead. Cafe Fish is excellent but difficult to get a booking. Just as well, I can't afford to let Jane take me there often!

Trousers open?
Googling to find if TnT is open for food tonight, the url I found is http://www.tigh-an-truish.co.uk. Follow that and you end up at Nick's place https://www.webcraft.uk/ which has no information about the kitchen.

Connel Bridge reduced clearance
Work on Connel Bridge will reduce clearance to 13m for 6 months starting September. They ask you to give them a ring if your air draft is over 10m http://whamassoc.org.uk/news/connel-bridge-reduced-clearance-september-2019-to-february-2020

Re: Success in Tobermory
I've missed that. When was McGoochan's burnt down, what state is it in now, what's the prognosis? (With not getting on the water this year I'm losing touch.) OTOH since LOTI took over the Mishnish it's greatly improved. Late May. Last weekend it still looked much like it did after the fire. But the...

Success in Tobermory
I enjoyed a Lynne Truss (not Liz - I checked with Google; their similar names are a minefield for pedants across the land) moment in Tobermory. Walking past the posh, fairly new hotel, I noticed "Local Whiskey" chalked on an A board outside. So I smudged the e. Returning later from the Mac...
