Re: XC Weather and the coming storm . . .

I've just had a Highland & Islands Weather Facebook page pop up on my stream. They are pretty accurate and Scottish-based, with lots of lovely graphs. I should also point out that they have issued an early advisory for a spell of severe gales early next week - with the associated low pressure d...

Re: XC Weather and the coming storm . . .

Just compared BBC Weather and Metcheck for my postcode just for tonight. There is a 4 degree difference - meaning it may freeze tonight (BBC) or be a bit cool (Metcheck).

Re: XC Weather and the coming storm . . .

Metcheck has started to get pretty inaccurate as well - They keep predicting snow (it's only snowed once this winter) and why they think they are going to be accurate six months hence is beyond me.

Re: Claymore's Bits and Pieces

I need to have a word with my fellow members of the Guild of Seamstresses, Galley Slaves Chapter as to if any breaches of 'The Code' have been breached.

Re: Will there be a wake?

My parents never went online and their visitors book from Seminole is a wonder to behold, they actually approached folk in harbours and on pontoons and spoke to them, you don't have to recognise a boat name from a forum to go make friends. They read YM and PBO so got info from there. Aye - 'tis tru...

Lovely pictures - but I hope the small hut at the end of the pier isn't what I think it is.

Re: Shetland Sailing Mysteries by Marsali Taylor.

It's just the right amount of technical boaty talk but if you are a non-boaty you can still understand what is happening. I like the background feeling of the real problems facing Shetland as they are bang up to date with credit crunch and oil reserves. Aquaplane* has issues with the Shetland tidal...

Hmmm, yes the trees may be the giveaway there. I had a discussion with my husband* about the set up of the rigging and mast height -so ten years on this Forum have not been a total loss.

Re: Will there be a wake?

I'm going to have to confess - I have also left a certain large Scottish Sailing Forum due to the volume of promotions and postings that pushed other vital topics like the Inversnecky Café sandwich board postings and cat café news. Interesting thing is there are a few news predictions for 2019 that...

Re: Shetland Sailing Mysteries by Marsali Taylor.

Typical - I bring book 5 home and then buy all the other online! BTW the author has a column in PBO.

Currently reading book 3.
