Re: Flu

I sympathise Wully, this year's was worst ever, I wasn't sure I'd be spared to see the New Year. I've been jabbed for years and can only say that if it's worse without them it must be truly hellish. Don't plan anything too soon, it lingers...

Re: Leaving the boat near Mallaig

Know it's a bit late, but we used Portree moorings (local RNLI manages) Bus to the mainland and train from there, or free bus all the way if you're crumbly

Probably better that the inserts were sacrificial rather than the housing! Now where is plastic on the scale?

Re: The complex questions of life

Just to add my penisworth, in spite of dealing with a buckle, the speed of simply pulling apart a button fly beats the zip-fiddle hands down, and this can be a saviour as we reach our twilight years.

It's photophucket trying to con you out of dosh.
We'll need to change our thirdparty hoster or something.
I'll wait until one of the gurus comes up with a viable solution.

Re: How's your Summer going?

More gloom I'm afraid. We booked in to Port Bannatyne for a few weeks in order to have lunches in the Kyles etc. We've been out of sync as every time we have to come home for 'business' the weather improves, and every time we go back the clouds descend to MLWS. Or is it that we've chosen the wrong p...

Re: SWR meter

I always carry my old one from the CB days on the boat. It only cost a few quid and has been diagnosing aerial/cable problems since the early '70s. I'm surprised you get aerial probelms as opposed to cable corrosion or water ingress. You'll be popular once you let it be known you can find problems! ...

Re: Mistral is sold

Just back from Italy after a 'special' to mark 50 in chains and her 70th - Villa in Tuscany, magic. Planning inner Clyde this year as I'm commode and should be around, however vaguely. Port Bannatyne will be base as Troon is a daysail away from everywhere and we can ferry home if the commode has to ...

Re: Mistral is sold

I think we got identical Lofrans winders at about the same time John. Mine is (so far !) in fine trum. Did you bore holes in the silvery end cap at the bottom of the motor to allow any wetness to dribble away? I also made a rather ugly but reasonably effective canvas cover for the beast above decks....

Re: Birthday Boy

Belated thanks children I didn't realise how much younger you all are - I've been drawing the OAP since 2009, biggest rise I was ever going to get.
Been awfully busy achieving absolutely Scottish Football Association lately but will be out and about soon hopefully.

internet guru please.

I know there are people here that are up to date with today's technology and can possibly help. I'm aware of VPNs , proxy servers, private servers (10.xxx.xxx.xxx etc.). Are they bullet-proof or is there a way of discovering who is spamming my email? I've done some Googling and actually used to be a...
