Re: Echo sounder interference
You could also try and fit ferrite rings to the cable that runs into the ST60 display from the echo sounder. If you put them near the display they should help to filter out the noise before it enters the display electronics. The energy induced into the echo sounder cables will be less than that tran...

Many thanks to Geoff and his staff for the lovely shiny chain that Mark collected today. It's almost a shame to get it muddy!

Many thanks Geoff
Would Friday afternoon between 3.30 and 4.30 be convenient to collect? I know you've published drop off times before but I can't find them- sorry.
If so Mark could collect Pilgrim's chain then.
Best wishes

Re: Bulk Purchasing and Buying Power - MkII
It is worth shopping around. Maplin are offering RG213U if you are prepared to buy 100m at just under £2.10 per metre. This is certified to the relevant US military specification so should be Ok. The main area for losses even at the relatively low frequencies of vhf are the connectors. Avoid UHF con...

Can we add our name to the list? We will take the chain off our Rival 36 tomorrow and try and drop it off over the next couple of weeks.

Re: Worst 2 or 3 anchorages
Most of the CBBC Katie Morag series was filmed in the West of Lewis. Not that it prevents us dragging our 5yr and 10 yr old children to Coll! Our daughter (age 5yr) coped with 200nm non stop passage Stornoway to Lerwick in order to see the Shetland ponies this year and the 10 yr old amazed his class...

Re: Weird underwater noise, Corran Narrows
Unfortunately I can't hear your recording but we also heard an odd noise when moored at Kingairloch Loch a Choire just south of your anchorage this summer on our way home from Shetland via the Caledonian canal. It started at 10pm and appeared cyclical, it was odd enough to even disturb Mark's sleep ...

"Does that mean you want my vintage charts again, Liz?" Posted: Sat Feb 21, 2015 10:08 am If you are offering Alastair! Do you have any of the Faeroes?! Hopefully it'll be just a brief stop in Orkney on the way home if our plans come to fruition (but then they rarely do). If I can borrow y...

Re: Orkney - how long?
Geoff and Angus 5 years ago our 2 friends went to Orkney and back in 2 weeks in their Contessa 32 from Troon to Troon in day sails so it is possible. We went round the top as part of my maternity leave. We spent 7 weeks away so weren't in a hurry and had a weaker crew than you will have I'm sure (1 ...
