Getting there.
Think we're at about 25 cans so far.

Re: Anti-fouling - bulk purchase again anyone?

Flag. Seems to be the company that make for several resellers too, such as the Gaelforce own brand. I have used it for several years now, (the Cruising variety) and it works fine for me. Slime only, which is easily brushed off. I don't know how well it does if you don't use the boat. I see some in m...

Anti-fouling - bulk purchase again anyone?

I'm considering another bulk purchase of anti-fouling. Last time we did Cruiser type only, but I think its possible to do both a cruising type and a performance type. They come in 2.5 litre cans. It would be possible to add varnish too (also in 2.5 litre cans) but I suspect anyone wanting that much ...

Re: Stavanger to Oban - any advice

Well we got there. Four of doing 4hours on 4 hours off in pairs. A headwind mostly, so a long tack south west knowing wind was to go to south, then a better beat north west, coming in sight of Peterhead first then along coast and wanting to stop first at Lossiemouth, we were knackered so called in t...

Stavanger to Oban - any advice

I'm awa to Eberdeen Sunday (free bus you see), to get a flight to Stavanger to help take a boat back to Oban. Anything special to know about Stavanger? Unsure of route, see what the weather says, but either Caley canal or "roon the top". Looks like Cape Wrath is about 100 miles further, bu...

Re: Sailing from Edinburgh

And with a bus pass that's a free bus journey to Gourock.
I'm in West Lothian (not quite Edinburgh). Takes 1h30 by bus, or 1h15 by car, but the car costs a lot more.

Re: I know who this is!

Boat looks about 32ft. What's the burgee?
Flat bow, blue antifoul, blue dodger,... think I've seen that somewhere about.

Re: Is My Knox Broken?

Yes, that sounds like a serious problem. A serious anchor should retrieve at least 400kg of seabottom when you weight it, along with a cubic metre of weed and otjer rubbish. I anchored overnight in Airds Bay (F7-8 northerly). We ranged about 10m either side of the directly down wind position accordi...

Re: SIPR 2019

We were pleased to complete again, after several retirements. Good runners makes a lot of difference, but runners who don't get seasick makes ALL the difference! We gained some and lost some at times. At times we sailed past a bunch of stationary boats, and at others they sailed past us! Tides playe...

Re: Stern chainplate rebuild - thoughts?

Dave beat me to the same suggestion. Avoid water into the GRP inside the hole. What metal is in inside? Possibly carbon steel if the exposed bit is, so even more important. Oversize, fill then re-drill.

Re: LED Flares

ditto Contender. Spares for the Jabsco, a split pin for everything, nuts bolts, tools, grease, spare anchor, spare chain, ropes, spare washboards, spare sails, spare spares... Can't imagine the weight of it all, no wonder its a slow boat.

Hyskeir Light is an interesting place to stop briefly on the way, in good weather.
