Launching booked for 16th.
Hopefully by about August I might be away to about Cape Wrath or thereabouts. Back for Christmas!

Is the volume of the anchor less than that of the equivalent weight of water, which is the displacement?

Re: Dezinced Propellor and New Propellor

I notice you have a hull anode nearby the prop. My R32 originally had no anodes, and the prop did about 40 years like that, but eventually it too went the way of yours. I changed it a year back and did one summer, but I made an anode to fit the shaft just between the cutless and prop bush. I didn't ...

Re: How to get launched?

I did some work last Saturday, when Silvers yard was open to customers (but not open when staff there). There were at least 10 others doing the same, all a suitable distance apart. But today an email announced the yard gates are locked and all stay out. Not sure what the employees are doing. At work...

Re: How to get launched?

Yard not shut, just not allowing any customers in during the hours they are there. So I can finish the preparations on weekends, but they're not launching any boats. I read somewhere that Spain and France have banned leisure boating. I cannot think why they'd do that? Surely having people at sea kee...

How to get launched?

The yard where Contender lies, out on the hard, mast off, have just advised that launchings are suspended meantime. So my idea of self (immolation) [typo] self isolation, aboard cruising the west coast somewhere they don't prevent landings ashore, seems to have been postponed. There's almost no sail...

Re: RYA yachtmaster theory (on-line) recommendation:

A collaborative novel could be an amusing idea to waste some self isolation time. (although actually I'm supposed to be working, we've got business pretty much as usual other than some hygiene rules). It was a dark and stormy night. The rain fell in lumps onto the deserted pavement as the Webmaster ...

Backstay insulators

I have them in my backstay, but the stay needs to be replaced (a strand astray). But cannot get the insulators unscrewed. Have lubricated the thread, tries a little heat, no joy. And if I get one end undone, I fear I'd never get the other end off as there's nothing to turn against. There's nothing o...

Re: Apropos of not very much

I contracted what was probably norovirus last week. I'm another product of the 1950s, and rarely get sick. Times I had, it was day, maybe 2. This time, I'm weak for a week! I rarely bother the NHS, but after a so called tennis elbow would not go away, I had to go and learn who my doctor is. An injec...

Re: Tunnocks Flotilla May 2nd 2020

Any suggestions from those on this learned forum of respectably behaved mariners, on the attractiveness of this event?

You would not imagine the wrangling that went on over that wording, "...suggested minimum...". !

Re: Tunnocks Flotilla May 2nd 2020

There's an important word that some penniless pensioners might miss... "suggested".
