Re: Restart Scottish Sailing Consultation

I live in the most socially deprived area in Scotland. I can't reconcile swanning about pursuing my pretty exclusive hobby while less fortunate in my community struggle to get outside their front door to exercise.

Re: Restart Scottish Sailing Consultation

Had a quick look at both links. Both seem to be driven by a business with sailing interests ( sailingchallenge.org) under a banner of #Restartsailing I'm not convinced that this is launched with the guy who potters in a 26' boat somehow. This is aimed at the bigger fish, racers and commercial intere...

Re: Fixing a hole in a boat

I've realised a potential snag. In some parts of the world, there's a tiny fish that has a habit of swimming up what can only be described as "yer jap's eye" and causes all sorts of internal mayhem. Don't know if they have it in Stornoway, but if so, it could be pooo-er, very pooo-er. Bel...

Re: Restart Scottish Sailing Consultation

I am firmly with the Poster who suggested just getting on with the Lockdown and protecting the NHS. If I don't get on the boat this year so be it - hopefully I will live to sail again next year. I cannot think of a more selfish way of behaving than to drive up from where we live -(Nr Fleetwood) jus...

Re: In 1956

My first bike. Honda CG125 was Ultra reliable apart from being a bit slow but was a great wee bike and passed my test on it first time (already passed my car test in school uniform). Second bike was a Honda 400N Superdream. Not as reliable as the 125 but still capable. Last bike was a Suzuki TS100 t...

Yeah! Not often I get these things, but home turf.

Re: Where is it

Oh yes. "You should be able to throw a digestive biscuit and hit the rock". Signed the book too. Seems such a long time ago. Can remember had just bought my first flat and was skint. My dad's friend George Bodie offered a wee cruise on the west coast from Bellanoch on Lady Nicola of Kent h...

Remember years ago being anchored in Ardinamir and walking over the hill to Cullipool where there was a wee cafe.
