Re: Aries Windvane - how good are they?

Aries and Hydrovane seem to be the No.1 choice and are said to be more powerful. Never used one but would be put off by all the string required in the cockpit, especially if you’ve a wheel steered boat. Reading accounts of folk using Aries worn through rope seems to be a recurring problem. Horses fo...

Re: The needs are drawing in

After a very scary, foggy night rounding Lands End I swore I’d have radar and goretex foulies... I never got round to fitting it but this boat came with one. I’ve fitted an AIS transponder Which is a brilliant piece of kit but only shows you who’s out there if they are transmitting... I’m still tryi...

Re: The needs are drawing in

The (Superb) Digital Yacht AIS talks to the plotter who talks to the Aye-pad.. all very convivial. Only problem is that grumpy auld fart of a radar refuses to talk to anyone, j...

Re: Drinking in the balmy south

2 LIBS tickets arrived here last week in a plain white envelope with no explaination as to their origins and I didn’t ask anyone for them..

Now, if they also send return sleeper tickets I might think about it...

Re: Drinking in the balmy south

I’m trying to work in the logistics of going to Boot in late January...that is a PROPER boat show.

Well worth the effort as it is massive and has all manner of water toys on display, make the London show look really feeble.

Take at least 2 days if you go.

Re: Leaving the boat near Mallaig

Well I never knew that Arisaig was only full time moorings..

Worth a call to the Glenuig Inn as they have a good few moorings, not sure how you'd get there by public transport though.

How about leaving her on a mooring at Arisaig?

Or talk to the Glenuig Inn?

You meet up for a drink, or not. And it's one persons round? What about the second and subsequent drinks?

I like a challenge..

Meeting up is one thing, trying to prise a drink oot o’ himself is quite another..One day we mibbies will get to the “subsequent drinks” part.
