Re: Dragging...

Aye, but. From midnight tonight the wind becomes a gentle, warm southerly bringing soothing warm air with it. Then dies out (at least in the Clyde). One final, glorious week of slowly wafting between favourite anchorages, no swell to spill the tea onto the fruit scones. Its gonnae be magic.

Aach, its more fun to come up with plausible but incorrect names. I think it was Peter Morton, who also makes morning rolls fur yet bacon.

Paul Merson played for Arsenal. I think you mean Paul Merton - the guy from have I Got News For You.

Re: Restart Scottish Sailing Consultation

I believe if done correctly it makes the meter run backwards. Better than slipping a photo negative into the case, or drilling a tiny hole and sticking a pin in.

Ah see he's been using the fabled orange mooring warp. The one that reminds you that its not been undone by the blue flash, bang and sizzled electronics.

Re: Restart Scottish Sailing Consultation

Completely agree - all systems go from the 3rd for those who don't live close to their boat. Well done to all who showed patience and stuck to the guidance. Enjoy the rest of the season everyone.

Re: 15th July

I heard unoffcially from an official source that it's provisionally the 10th. But that's hardly insightful since if the roadmap phases line up with the 3 weekly announcements, its the day after the one after next. Why do you think the 15th? To prevent the orangemen marching on the 12th?

Re: How to get launched?

At this stage of things, we are gong to see a background of continued fall in new cases generally, but with localised bursts of new infections. The long incubation period and the role of infectious asymptomatic carriers means these bursts exist before they are identified. The tactics to deal with th...

Re: How to get launched?

This is a good question that I've also been chewing over. I've not launched yet, but whether I can justifiably drive an hour there and an hour back for a day sail will influence whether I do launch or not, at least for now. I think if you go out, get into trouble and require assistance from official...

Re: Refurbishing an anchor windlass

Nick, Did you get anywhere with that windlass? My "free" replacement worked twice in Strangford Lough then gave up the ghost. I now have two disassembled VS1000 motors at home (main body and gipsy still on the out of reach boat). I'm just about to order replacement bearings for the motor an...

Catching rain water must be a plan fraught with success in Scotland... Haw Wully - given yer sunburnt personage, and yet current rehydrating with beer, wid ye like tae reconsider? Re: Wait for it, wait for it . . .

Just finished reading this (the kindle book, not the thread). Really enjoyed it - moves along at a nice pace, very informative but not so much detail that you get bogged down. Nice to read to get a sailing fix while locked down.

Re: Restart Scottish Sailing Consultation

"Golf, canoeing, hiking, outdoor swimming, angling" all within 5 miles of home!!!!!! Who, the hell, are the demographic they're aiming at? Hiking is defined as "the activity of going for long walks, especially across country" - needs to be modified to include going round in circ...

Re: Restart Scottish Sailing Consultation

Might you take some comfort from this post in TOP? Derek Hard to take comfort from people being deliberately thick on TOP. Unless they really are that thick, which is always possible. All this "if I was stopped by the police I would just say such and such". For goodness sake, you are bein...
